Eighth Grade Visit to Lancaster County CTC Campuses
Guest Writer - Abby
On April 6, the entire 8th grade went on a trip to the different Lancaster County CTC campuses. I visited Mt. Joy. At Mt. Joy the different careers that we were showed were child care, engineering, emergency management, cooking & baking, hair stylist, and construction. You would get to practice as if you were in that career.
They provided many career choices and good ways to learn how to do these careers. For child care, they have their own daycare where you work. You create lesson plans and activities. If you were to go into being a hair stylist, they have their own salon at the building. In carpentry, one thing you would make tiny houses. If you are interested in cooking and baking, they had their own kitchen and most of your day you were always in the kitchen. In emergency management, often you would not be at the CTC and go somewhere else for training.
We learned that CTC campuses are a good place to go to as a high school student when looking into careers.
