It’s that time of year again! Time to come together and dance for the kids who can’t. That’s right… It’s MiniTHON! We have to come together and raise money for kids with cancer. But, what is MiniTHON in the first place? Well, have you ever heard of THON at Penn State where they dance for 46 hours without sitting down? They have a reason. They’re not crazy! They are dancing to raise awareness for kids with cancer. MiniTHON is just the Middle School student run version of THON. Instead of 46 hours, MiniTHON is only 3 hours. Last year we raised $29,233.94 for kids with cancer. This year we can do better!
Need ideas for how to raise money? Well, it’s easy. There are so many things that you could do. You could have a sub sale; just set it up with a local grocery store like Martin’s. Or, you could do extra chores, have a bake sale, or help out your neighbors. So, now you don’t have an excuse for not raising money for MiniTHON! Use the ideas above to raise money and then bring it in. Or you can use that money to buy the MiniTHON merchandise being sold all over the school. Some of the merchandise you can buy are lanyards, pencils, bracelets, and more. You can buy all of this on Thursdays in the EMS lobby. So, now you know what MiniTHON is and you don’t have an excuse not to raise money for it.
This year MiniTHON is on March 2nd from 7:00 to 10:00pm. The theme is Superheroes and if you want a t-shirt, you have to register soon! To be guaranteed a t-shirt you have to register with a minimum $25 donation by February 3rd. But, the overall registration is over on February 23rd. Also, you don’t have to stop fundraising when you turn in your registration (to Ms. Holmes or Mrs. Rios) because you can never raise enough money for kids with cancer. But, there is another incentive. If you are one of the top fundraisers, you get VIP treatment at MiniTHON. This means that you get a special meal and you get to skip the lines. But lines for what?
This year’s highlights for MiniTHON include a superhero photo booth, giant Jenga, giant Connect Four, 3 v 3 basketball tournaments, beach ball volleyball tournaments, and more. They also have good food like pizza and even cotton candy! If that’s not enough, it will also have a DJ and line dancing!! But, don’t forget what MiniTHON is truly about and help us to meet our goal of $30,000. So, go and register for MiniTHON now!!
