Bob and Pete Girls JV Soccer Team
by Carly
.Ephrata Middle School Girl's JV team coached by Mrs. DeHaven has a very fun way of teaching that I don’t think anyone else has. I asked a few questions and she had told me that the team had a blue plastic training post who they have named Bob and Pete.
Bob and Pete's evolution started out basic. They were blue plastic training poles. Sophia and Lilah who happen to be varsity players gave them names after they were first born. Bob had a staple in him at the top section of the pole. We thought he might have had stitches at birth. Pete's pole had a sticker on it so the girls decided he was born having a good well care check-up. Then came plastic cone faces, hats, face masks, jerseys, and a headband.
Bob and Pete were the names of the two groups of players on JV that would compete for points in a daily training session. Bob versus Pete games were highly motivational. Bob didn't like to lose and neither did Pete. Bob and Pete traveled to home games as well as away games. Their iconic presence became well known by our opposing teams. Bob and Pete symbolized good luck for us. It was our team's mascots.
