EMS Chorus Winter Concert

The songs that were chosen for the chorus in the winter concert were chosen because Mrs. Ohlinger, the chorus teacher, wanted to challenge the singers with certain vocal techniques and sounds. She made sure to have a variety of winter and holiday songs instead of just songs that are centered around the Christian holiday. The songs that the chorus performed in the winter concert were “Home” as performed by Phil Phillips, “White Winter Hymnal” as performed by Pentatonix, “Jazz Gloria,” and “I’ll Be Home for Christmas.” The Mounts Melodic performed “Bring a Torch” by Jeanette Isabella and “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohan. Mrs. Ohlinger said that she has used “Jazz Gloria” and “White Winter Hymnal” before in previous concerts. She had the music picked out and the rehearsal folders ready in June. She works all year for the spring concert, picking and arranging music that would challenge the young singers but also could be told into a story to tell the audience.
