EIMS Mini-THON 2024
by Adelynn
Four Diamonds Mini-THON is a fundraiser, which was created by Penn State University dedicated to young kids with cancer. Ephrata has taken the big event and created one within our school. The event has things like basketball, a bouncy house, bingo, music, and dancing. Students are encouraged to invite their friends to raise as much money as possible. The EIS and EMS buildings go against each other to see who can raise the most money between both schools. The student that raised the most money gets to pie or silly string their principal. At the end of the event, the amount of money in total that was raised gets revealed to the school. Ephrata Middle School has taken this fundraiser and created new ways to collect money to donate. They’ve come up with activities such as sub sales, Stall Day, and the famous Student vs. Faculty basketball game. Stall Day is a day when students bring change to school and are allowed to use as much of it to “stall” their class. The teacher is required to count all of the money before the class can actually begin. As for the Student vs. Faculty basketball game, it is when the eighth grade basketball teams, (both boys and girls) combine as a team to go against a staff member built team. This year, the 2028 school basketball team won! Eighth grader Jeremiah Griffin, scored the winning shot. He states, “Hitting the shot felt amazing especially in front of everybody and I’m glad that we could win.”
