Girls Basketball

Our lives have changed a lot facing COVID-19. Even sport teams such as basketball. Our girls school basketball teams have changed an awful lot with COVID-19. After we were able to get back into school the girls basketball team was able to get adapted to the changes. They have had some things thrown at them, but they made it through together as a team.
The basketball coach Mr. Edmiston said “There was some concern that we weren't going to have a season. My heart went out to the players because they had put in the work and deserved to have a chance to play” then after we got back into school this year, they are bringing the season up again and they have had their tryouts on Friday, November 19, 2021. Now they are working on getting their season. We have full hope in the team and the season that this year they will be able to do games how they have in the past with no masks and or distractions that pull away from the season.
When you try out, they look at your skills and if you get lucky you will move up. There is a 7th, 8th, and 9th grade team at the junior high level and then a Junior Varsity and Varsity team at the HS level. To get moved up a level, a player has to show that they are both mentally and physically prepared for that challenge. We try to avoid doing that. There is something to be said for teams learning to play with one another. The only way we would move a player is if they would play as much or more at the higher level compared to their own level.
