EMS Veterans Day Assembly 2018
Staff Writer: Vic
The Veterans Day assembly was a call to all the people who have served and are serving for the military. It was the first of its kind for many years where the band played accompanying music with the Mounts Melodic wonderful rendition of The Star-Spangled Banner. After the music introduction, Mr. Garman kicked off the main event with flair by introducing the students to a few people who have gone through that experience. Two of the guests were on a break until their new deployment. They talked about what the conditions were where they have been deployed giving us a visual of how bad it can be. They also mentioned multiple times how the crew you work with are like second family and it takes away the stress and strain of being away from loved ones. There were a few people who help volunteer at the United Veteran Beacon House who came to talk. They told us about their military stories in Germany and France. The last military veteran was an older gentleman that fought in the Vietnam War and humorously relived the tale of his military life. After each and every wonderful story, the audience of students applauded. After the assembly, the students went back to classes to talk about the stories and their future plans.
